Anonymous asked: Naturally super curly hair at any lenght is high maintenance, I have natural curly hair and I've worn every lenght BUT when the lenght is just above the ears when you pull the curl straight, they are less hell to take care of, the lenght he has now is the worst! It's that awkward lenght of what can you do with it properly, and it always either needs to be straightened or the curls sorted, even if you do not even care for hairatyles it is just a general matter of looking decent ; v ;
Poor Benny. Maybe I’ll allow him the hat then! Although I still think it looks better longish and wavy than slicked back.
I can see why he prefers it short though - unless it’s been twisted and diffused into Sherlock loveliness, so do I !
Anonymous asked: Never mind food as long as Sherlock has got his hair twisted and diffused everything will turn out okay! His source of energy is his hair! I'm dying a bit imagining him spending hours in a hidey-hole doing his hair
Ooh I like that theory - he sort of photosynthesises through his hair? That might explain a lot… In fact Benedict said that he thought that Sherlock drew nutrition from the air like a plant in one of the commentaries didn’t he?
The only thing that goes against that goes against Sherlock having high maintenance hair is that bit in The Great Game where he deduces that Jim is gay because of his hair. And John says: ‘Because he puts a bit of product in his hair? I put product in my hair,’ and Sherlock replies, ‘You wash your hair, there’s a difference.’
If Sherlock spent hours styling his hair then I would have expected a comment from John to that effect. Although there is a Johnlock fic on AO3 called ‘Crocodiles and Cannibals and Putting Things in Sherlock’s Hair’…..
Of course it’s always possible that I’m taking this all way too seriously.
Any more theories?
Anonymous asked: I wish Benedict would realise that the slickback doesn't make him look particularly manly compared to him wearing the long lenght curls. He just looks like himself, he doesn't look like a bird, they don't make the eyes his mother gave him look feminine with some fringe shading them. He is all man inside and out. And he looks lovely, I really wish he didn't hate them so much, not because I find them to be fine and dandy, but, I like seeing people be confident with what God gave them.
The slickback just makes him look old in my opinion, but I think it’s just his attempt to deal with the Sherlock hair which can’t be easy! I suspect it’s easy to sport the poodle-look or just a mad frizz if you don’t spend time on it, and Ben strikes me as a low-maintenance hair kind of boy…
I also think that despite his protests it’s got more to do with not having ‘Oi, Sherlock!’ shouted at him as he walks down the street, something he mentioned during s2 filming. The hair is what makes him so recognisable!
Interesting there are lots of pics of him with Sherlock hair during s1 filming, in the build-up for s2 he was ginger for Frankenstein, and also I suspect to disguise it while it grew. This time he’s got it worse because he can’t cut it for 5 months with the summer filming hiatus.
So yes, I agree, he should be happy with what God gave him, and I think generally he is - he’s said what a joy it was to be allowed his own hair colour for August and Twelve Years filming. I think he just likes his hair shorter and lower maintenance than Sherlock does!
Which raises the question - if Sherlock doesn’t eat or sleep while he’s on a case, how does he find time to keep his hair looking so immaculate??

I really hate that hat.
Partly because it obscures the Sherlock hair, but mainly because - I just really hate that hat.
Someone accidentally lose it, or wash it with some red socks, or something - please?

John Harrison [has] somewhat preternatural abilities and a wild flop of hair that seems to become more unhinged the angrier he becomes. — http://blogs.indiewire.com/theplaylist/5-things-you-might-not-know-about-star-trek-into-darkness-20130514?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A%20indieWIREFeatures%20%28indieWire%20Features%29&page=1#blogPostHeaderPanel
